MedInformatix Salutes Mammography Clients

Los Angeles, CA – (October 9, 2020)

In recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, healthcare IT innovator MedInformatix is proud to highlight the work of its mammography clients in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.

“Statistics show that about 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer over the course of her lifetime,” says Pat McGonigle, President and CEO of MedInformatix. “We are proud of our mammography clients as they advance new technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. We salute their efforts, as well as those of all healthcare providers, who are working on the front lines to eradicate this disease.”

The MedInformatix technology platform is at work at state-of-the-art mammography centers across the United States, including:

ARA Diagnostic Imaging

ARA Diagnostic Imaging has been providing advanced imaging services to the people of Austin and Central Texas for more than 65 years. Their highly respected Women’s Imaging Program includes four centers dedicated exclusively to women’s imaging that go beyond the screening mammogram to include diagnostics and biopsy.

Breast Care for Washington

Formed in response to the significant health disparities existing in the District of Columbia, BCW is the only facility in the nation’s capital to routinely offer mammography screenings and diagnostic imaging to low-income and medically underserved women regardless of their insurance status. As part of its corporate social responsibility program, MedInformatix has provided the nonprofit a comprehensive RIS platform.

Charlotte Radiology

Charlotte Radiology operates 15 breast centers and three mobile breast units, all certified as Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence. The mobile units are state-of-the-art give Charlotte the capacity to bring mammography to more than 15,000 women annually across the southern United States – from the Carolinas to Florida to Virginia and as far west as Texas. Charlotte was one of the first practices in the country to offer digital breast tomosynthesis, more commonly known as 3-D mammography, and is a founding member of Strategic Radiology, the nationwide coalition of private radiology practices providing medical imaging services to 200 hospitals and 400 outpatient sites across 35 states.

Eastern Radiologists

ERI’s nationally recognized Breast Imaging Center has been accredited by the American College of Radiology as a Center of Excellence and serves a network of 14 mammography sites in Eastern North Carolina and around the greater Greenville area. ERI was just the second imaging center in the country to offer Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography (CESM), a specialized type of mammogram to aid in the detection of high-risk breast cancer.

Imaging for Women

Kansas City-based Imaging for Women offers one of the region’s most comprehensive array of screening and diagnostic services, including low-dose 3-D mammography and minimally invasive breast biopsies. Most procedures offer same-day results as the specialized practice treats the human condition surrounding women’s health and the anxieties that sometimes occur around mammography.

Knoxville Comprehensive Breast Center

KCBC was the first independent breast center of its kind in the State of Tennessee to deliver cost-effective quality breast healthcare in a woman-friendly setting. KCBC’s founder, Dr. Kamilia Kozlowski, developed the specialty of Clinical Breast Radiology to help change the fragmented delivery of breast healthcare. Traditionally, a woman might visit multiple specialists and receive conflicting opinions whether there is a potential breast problem. A Clinical Breast Radiologist can synthesize the information from a patient’s clinical and imaging armamentarium in a single setting and engage in diagnosis and treatment options at the time of care.

Weinstein Imaging

Weinstein is an independent, specialized imaging center that has grown to become one of Western Pennsylvania’s premier ultrasound and mammography facilities. They are actively engaged in the Pittsburgh community and are a founding sponsor of the Pittsburgh Race for the Cure.

The American Cancer Society estimates 276,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women in the U.S. in 2020, along with 48,530 new cases of noninvasive breast cancer. Of this, more than 42,000 women will die of the disease, which has become the most common form of cancer in American women. Another 2,600 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in men, with over 500 succumbing to the disease. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities to increase awareness of the disease and raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure.
