Paperless Integrated Office
MedInformatix is one of the
most comprehensive EPM and EMR packages on the
market today. It encompasses not only scheduling,
registration, billing, EDI, custom reporting,
collections, and electronic medical records but
it also may be used for outcomes analysis, to
track marketing and in a practice’s surgery center.
MedInformatix was developed as a Microsoft Windows
product and utilizes a single Microsoft SQL database.
The software integrates with many types of medical
equipment and also offers lab and hospital interfaces.
MedInformatix may easily be customized by the
practice to suit their specific requirements and
workflow. It is ideal for small or enterprise
level practices. MedInformatix can turn the dream
of a paperless, integrated practice into reality.
EPM and EMR Features
Scheduling/Registration
MedInformatix offers several views to schedule
appointments providing flexibility to the end
user. The scheduling templates, appointment reasons,
alerts, and automatic authorization requests are
completely customizable. Referral tracking is
also available at the appointment level. With
MedInformatix, the registration process may be
as little as one minute. All demographic information
is displayed on one screen making verification
quick and easy. Insurance cards, prescriptions,
and other documents may be scanned into the system
with a single click. Customizable consent and
benefit forms may be printed from the system.
However, most practices elect to have these types
of forms electronically signed using either a
signature pad or pen tablet.
Authorizations and Eligibility
MedInformatix offers complete authorization management
and online eligibility. At the time an appointment
is scheduled, if the type of appointment, based
on the insurance requires an authorization, the
patient’s information is automatically sent to
the Authorizations Review screen.
Patient Flow Tracking
The flow of patients through the practice can
be tracked with MedInformatix system. Patients
appear in different colors on a check in screen
to depict where they are in the practice, e.g.
registration, waiting room, exam area, etc. The
system also lets the medical staff know which
patient is in each exam room and if a patient
is with the physician, nurse, or is waiting to
be seen.
Electronic Chart
When first opened, the MedInformatix EMR contains
a summary of the patient’s chart along side the
custom-designed physician work flow. Orthopedic
specific templates are already available and may
be further customized to meet the needs of each
practice. This customization may be done by either
MedInformatix representatives or by the practice
itself. From the main EMR screen there is also
quick access to other areas of the system, e.g.
past documents, patient billing, orders, prescriptions,
lab results, etc.
Electronic Medical Data Input
Data may be input into the EMR several ways. Most
physicians elect to use a wireless, hand-held
device with touch screen technology. This makes
it fast and easy to select values from the customizable
choice lists. To further increase the speed of
data entry, the physician can use pre-defined
“Normals” or copy the information from the patient’s
last visit.
Document Repository
All completed office notes are stored in the Document
Repository and once they are electronically signed,
each is saved as an encrypted, medically legal
document. The Document Repository also holds any
scanned or incoming faxed documents, hospital,
lab, or radiology reports, electronically signed
consent forms, and digital images. All documents
stored in the repository may be printed or faxed
at any time.
Prescription Writing
The prescription module comes loaded with the
complete medications database and is updated for
the practice. Prescriptions may be printed, faxed,
or sent electronically from the system. Single
or multiple medications can be refilled very quickly
and a complete history of all medications that
the patient has been on is always available. The
EMR will also alert the physician to any drug-drug
or drug-allergy interactions and patient leaflets
are available.
Referral Letters
Referral letters are customizable and may include
a patient’s entire office note or just key components
that the physician wishes to include. These letters
can be automatically generated by the EMR and
printed for later mailing or automatically faxed
to the referring physician.
Billing and EDI
The system will calculate the E&M Level of
Service for the physician and then this CPT code
along with any additional procedure codes are
sent to the claims processing screen for coding
review prior to EDI submission. Besides electronic
eligibility, MedInformatix offers electronic claim
submission, claim status, statement transmittal,
and remittance processing.
Collections and Reporting
The reporting capabilities are limitless and all
forms and reports are customizable. Follow up
of insurance and patient balances can be handled
with ease using the comprehensive collection queues
and tools, e.g. ticklers, action codes, messaging,
and account notes.
Outcomes Analysis
With MedInformatix, querying data is trouble-free.
Staff can select criteria for searches and the
system will deliver a list of patients that meet
it. This list can then be assigned to a user or
batch letters may be generated. It’s a great way
to handle medication recalls, missed appointments,
new patients, etc. The system also makes it quick
and easy to do analysis on financial and/or clinical
information. All information can be graphed, printed
or exported to Microsoft Excel with a single click.
Orthopedic PACS Integration
MedInformatix currently integrates with several
PACS vendors and is continually adding additional
strategic partners. For a current list of integrated
