MedInformatix has grown out of the
long-term experience and problem solving abilities
of its founders in the medical field. In the mid-eighties,
three of the current principals of MedInformatix
first met and joined forces. Two of them, unable
to find a satisfactory Information Technology
(IT) solution for the management of large medical
practices, made a bold decision to develop their
own. By teaming up with the architect of an advanced
computerized billing system they successfully
implemented their technology and turned around
over 50 practices within a few years, with significant
growth in revenues and income. The architect of
the system had been in the medical insurance field
since 1978, was a workflow expert, had developed
his own software products since 1982 and had been
in the medical practice management side since
1985. The principles continued working together
creating a more comprehensive and sophisticated
system and a stable and profitable organization
for product development, implementation, marketing
and sales. Their results were outstanding. It
was not uncommon for them to increase practice
cash flows by over 400%. Their complementary skill
sets and common vision led to the establishment
of MedInformatix, Inc.
The company installed its first integrated
medical records and practice management solution
in 1992 for Kind Care in California and it is
still functioning successfully today. Also in
1992, MedInformatix contracted its first national
reseller, DavLong. In 1995 MedInformatix installed
its first national account. In 1997 Health Technology
Management magazine announced MedInformatix the
winner of its “What Works” award and from 1997
through 2001 MedInformatix was chosen as a finalist
at the annual Microsoft Healthcare Industry Solutions
Awards in numerous categories
and won the Award in 1999.
